Houston avenue

open plan kitchen/dinning extension

The client approached D² architect to transform their existing kitchen and separate dining room into an open plan space. The existing layout suffered from tight rooms and felt restricted in space and cellular. In addition to this, a separate dining room was rarely used and as such felt like wasted space, sitting at the awkward, inner corner of the house.

A number of proposals were looked at as part of the initial design exercise. These revolved around the same notion of opening up the small individual spaces to create a feeling of openness and to bring the spectacular woodlands to the rear of the house into the proposed extension.

Following discussion with the client a preferred option was chosen and both planning permission and building warrant were approved.
